Examination Training
Rheidol is a B.H.S. Approved Riding,Training & Examination Centre up to AI (Assistant Instructor) level.   Formal and one to one training can be arranged to prepare and present candidates for B.H.S. Stage 1, 2 and 3 Examinations. Courses are also held for larger groups covering the riding and stable management aspects of the Examination syllabus.  Dressage training is available up to Advanced level from Iola, who is herself an Affiliated Advanced Dressage competitor.

Next Training Courses:

The B.H.S. Stage 1 or Stage 2/3 Course commenced on 6 November 2007, 6.00-8.00 p.m. once weekly and continues for 16 sessions, ending in March 2008, and covers the whole syllabus for B.H.S. Stage 1 or 2/3 and prepares you for the examinations to be held here on    13 May 2008 (Stage 1) and 17 June 2008 (Stage 2).

We may run the B.H.S. Progressive Riding Test Course, dates not yet decided

Obviously you don't need to take any examinations and many people do these courses just for their own satisfaction and to have a more complete knowledge of riding and horsemanship or as a mark of their own personal achievement.

Government Trainees can sometimes be taken on and trained for their NVQ examinations.

We can train and assess pupils up to NVQ level 3.

We can also train and assess candidates for GCSE horsemanship examination. Back to top

Riding Lessons
Lessons are given 7 days a week both for children and adults, either individually or in small groups in flat work, show jumping, and cross-country.  We can take the lesson in Welsh if you would prefer - please state this when making your booking. Back to top

Riding & Road Safety

The B.H.S. recommend 6 hours training before the Riding & Road Safety Test and we provide this in 3 x 2 hour sessions (contact Rheidol Riding Centre):

Leisure Riding
All types of leisure riding are offered from 1/2 hour lead rein for small children (minimum of 4 years old) on quiet ponies, through to the more exciting one and two hour hacks for competent riders.  We can take these lead rein sessions through Welsh if you would prefer - please state this when making your booking.

All-day rides are arranged for experienced riders and also evening pub rides during the
holiday season. Two-day rides are arranged occasionally, these take the riders to the beach for a canter.  Obviously riders must be fully competent.  Safety helmets are provided free of charge, body protectors may be hired. Back to top

Pony Club
We are a B.H.S. Pony Club Centre and hold regular Rallies in riding and stable management for young riders on our ponies.  Also gymkhanas, quizzes, treasure hunts, barbeques, summer camp etc.

Riding for the Disabled
We are a Riding for the Disabled Centre (RDA) , many groups and individuals use our instructors, horses and facilities. Back to top

Competitions
Every year we run competitions for our pupils and other local riders at the Centre in show-jumping, dressage and eventing.  These are at a very novice level to give new and young riders their first taste at competing. Back to top

Stable Management
Courses are offered in stable management either as part of examination training or simply on their own. Back to top

Safety
We are inspected regularly by many Official Bodies to ensure the safety of our facilities, the welfare of the horses, the standard of staff and our teaching, and that our statutory insurance and other obligations are in place. These inspections are carried out by Ceredigion County Council, the British Horse Society, Wales Tourist Board and the Wales Trekking and Riding Association. 

Riding hats that comply to the very latest British Safety Standards are provided free of charge and body protectors are available for hire. Back to top

Most of our staff are from the locality and Welsh is their first language. If you would like your lesson to be through the medium of Welsh please request this when making your booking, and we will arrange it.
